This week on Weekend Wondering Dave talks with Dr Zac Turner  from Channel 9’s (Today Extra) about Hobart’s air pollution.

The head of the World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned people recently that air pollution is as bad as tobacco, and that simply breathing in the air around us is the root cause of 7 million deaths a year.

Over 90% of the world’s population suffers toxic air and research is proving it to have a major impact on the health of people, especially children. So just how bad is Hobart’s air pollution and could it be affecting our health?

Dr Zac  talk’s about :

  • What the most prominent damaging effects of air pollution on our health actually are – is it really as bad as tobacco?
  • Which members of society are most at risk and how they can keep themselves as safe as possible
  • What the WHO is planning to do about the issue and how we can work together to reduce air pollution
