Dave chats with North Hobart Coach Richard Robinson ahead of TSL rd 18 this weekend.

Three big rivalries will resume in round 18 of the Bupa Tasmanian State League season, including an intriguing northern derby at Windsor Park, with Launceston and North Launceston set to contend for the Phil Edwards Cup.

Launceston will be desperate to snap an extended losing streak against their rival, with the Blues not tasting success over North Launceston since 2013.

The Blues will likely come out breathing fire after last weekend’s shock loss to North Hobart, while the reigning premiers will come into this clash fresh from the bye and eager to keep the pressure on ladder leaders Lauderdale.

The growing rivalry between Tigers and North Hobart will continue this weekend, with both teams entering the clash in reasonable form.

The fifth-placed Tigers stunned North Launceston back in round 15 and will look to record their third win over the Demons for the season, while North Hobart, after two wins in four weeks – including last weekend’s shock defeat of Launceston – will be brimming with confidence.

The Eastern Shore derby will also take place this weekend, with the young ‘Roos playing host to the ladder-leading Southern Bombers.

Clarence showed plenty of fight in last weekend’s loss to Glenorchy, and up against its Eastern Shore neighbour, will come into this clash with plenty of vigour with just four games to go in its season.

Lauderdale sit two games clear on top of the ladder, but have a game in hand ahead of North Launceston, making every game a crucial one if the club is to clinch its first senior minor premiership.
